It is back to shift dresses and heels after a fortnight-long break. So I had quite a bit of trouble getting out of bed for a morning meeting yesterday, because we touched down at midnight the night before, and I didn't have an ocean view to motivate me to freshen up for a day ahead. I know, I need to work hard to buy a villa by the beach.

Returning to my normal city life saw me picking out a slinky black dress that will never go wrong. I mean, how can you ever look underdressed or overdressed in a black dress? You can never have too many in your wardrobe, and it would be perfect to have them in different cuts, materials and lengths to cater for the many occasions in your life. Today's pick is a mid-length body-hugging shift dress that made me feel like I am wearing Victoria Beckham - so effortlessly chic, elegant and sexy.

Actually, no accessorizing is needed, but I needed some gold touches to mask my post-holiday exhaustion. And this pair of striped canvas sandals add a layer of fun to my overall outfit, too. Not exactly the easiest pair to match your clothes to, but won't go wrong with a black dress surely. Or a oversized white top with denim shorts, maybe?
