The surprise trip turned out to be more than just a mere surprise trip.

One month ago, B told me he'd booked a holiday for us and I would only find out the first destination (out of the 3 cities) upon checking in at the airport. I was over the moon when I saw 'Milano', only to find out something even better was going to happen...

We were Venezia-bound, and a whole chapter of memories awaited us at The Floating City.

We spent the first four days re-exploring the enchanting Italian gem, one that will always hold a special place in our hearts because getting lost in alleys, losing count of gondolas and running in the rain under a little umbrella are some of the many wonders we remember of Venezia.

Living life the Venetian way; we learned so much more about the local culture and lifestyle and this is always the most humbling part about traveling. People ask why we always spend so much money on holidays, but they are not just holidays - because travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.

Walking down lanes that we had taken before, stepping into familiar cafes that we sipped coffee at on our previous trip, bacaro-hopping and appreciating the Venetian way of snacking, waking up at 6:30am to catch the crowd-free moments at our favorite photo spots, discovering local markets and haggling for fresh strawberries and tomatoes, basking in the celebrations of the Carnivale di Venezia, and of course - being proposed to and sealing a lifetime of love with a kiss on Rialto Bridge...

How wonderful life is with B; how precious this chapter is for us.

Till I write more again about Venezia!
