If you know me well enough, you would know that I hardly spend a bomb on a single piece of apparel, because I do not like to repeat my outfits. But if any, basics are what I would happily break the bank for. They are the ones that give you the highest yield, and you can match them in a hundred ways and really stretch your dollar.

Basics are the easiest to stand out, and also the easiest to break an ensemble. Everywhere sells basics, but I am very picky when it comes to owning one. The quality has to be of a certain standard, and the fit must be flattering, else it will really spoil my entire look and have me looking nothing but cheap and unfashionable. So when I choose mine, material is key, and little details like cut-outs, knots and zips are splendid.

Today's feature is a textured tank top that I picked from Red Poppiez, a local label with regular launches of apparels, accessories and bags. While coral may not be a first choice for many when it comes to basics, I thought it is a fun color to stock up in the wardrobe because it instantly brightens even the simplest ensemble. This piece is coveted for its thick textured cotton that is non-sheer, and it is one very versatile design that can be matched with anything - pencil skirts, denim jeans, crochet shorts... And there is something about cut-outs that are so simple, yet not overpoweringly outstanding. Yipe, I love my basics with a twist.

I did a simple pairing with my trusty black skorts (I know manyyy of you have asked me about this pair before but I am sorry because I really don't know where in Singapore you can get it and I won't sell it), and slipped into my new favorite sandals for a casual weekday out with B. It was really a comfortable ensemble and I will never get sick of such basics.
