Twenty-Four

Quite scarily, it is the time of the year and I turn 24 today. How is it possible that my birthday just keeps happening?! Every single year, as we approach June, it is like a look-back-and-reflect time for everyone to mark their achievements for the first half of the year. But for me, it is like an alarm (that I never wanted) to evoke every reminder in me that I am going to "level up".
24 is a scary number that kicks me out of the "early-20s" arena. One more year and it will be a quarter of a century. And you know how survey forms, immigration forms, employment forms and whatever forms always has the age group field with options like 'Under 18', '18 to 24', '25 to *insert any monstrous number*'...
I KNOW. Tell me about feeling really old.
But I made a pact with myself to try even harder to always be positive about everything in life, and this shall keep me grounded and remind me to never stop giving thanks to all the good (and bad) things that come to me.
While embracing this leap, I just want to say a big thank-you to everyone who sent over heartwarming messages and presents, to everyone who planned celebrations and surprises for me, to everyone who made me feel extra special on this significant day of mine. Mere words will never suffice to express my gratitude. :')
Also, special mentions to Shiberty for the stunningly gorgeous pastel flower cake with rainbow interior, Desserts Kitchen for the Red Velvet cake with ombre buttercream, my family (and B) who took time off to get-together for a hearty dinner, the Shu Uemura SG team for sending over yet another precious bag of cosmetics, and Hollyhoque for always clothing me with chic apparels that get me so many compliments.
I count my blessings every single day. :)
