Travelogue: Mr Jones’ Orphanage // Bangkok

Slightly more than a year ago when B and I were exploring Thong Lor, we chanced upon Mr Jones' Orphanage - now my favoritest cafe in the world. Quite the irony (of its name), it is actually the happiest cafe with the most whimsical decoration; bears fill the place like it is Teddy's playground, soft modern jazz, plush suede chairs, a pseudo library on the mezzanine, and a shrine of cakes.
This is precisely my idea of happiness, because life should be made up of a myriad of colors and innocence just like this.
Mr Jones' has since been a must-visit for every trip we make to Bangkok, and it is not difficult to fathom why. With a sure-win concept like this, and a wide array of affordable desserts, how can anyone not fall in love? Park yourself on one of its comfy seats, get yourself a slice of cake, and just breathe in the atmospheric charm while hugging a Teddy; perfect afternoon in Bangkok while escaping from the chaos and hubbubs of the city.
They may not bake the most delicious cakes, but the selection is enough to keep us going back time and again. By far my utmost favorite is the very sinful KitKat cake, which might just be the most photogenic as well, and I can always put diet aside for a slice of that heaven. The Red Velvet was, unfortunately, a disappointment when we tried. I hope it was just that day's mishap and not a permanent conclusion. B enjoyed his Passion-Strawberry Sponge cake, and the other one we savoured (on our previous trip) was the Chocolate Lava Cake - definitely one of the most affordable ones around.
And I can go on and on, but I just want to relish the hour we spent there and countdown to my next trip. Maybe I will drop by again on my last day before I catch the last flight out.
