It actually still feels surreal that I have finally stepped into Toji, and to actually be there with the man of my life. The 5-storied pagoda - a symbol of Kyoto - is one that everyone recognizes, one that represents the beautiful Japan, and one that houses the history-rich Yakushi Buddha.

We spent a morning touring the sacred ground, from the park, to the kondo and kodo, to the pagoda itself. It was a serene moment standing before the pagoda - a moment in time where I was humbled by the sheer magnificence of the tallest pagoda in Kyoto, and I felt transported back in time to feel all the worshipping, to hear all the scripture-chanting...

Because we stayed just across the Kyoto Station, the proximity couldn't have been more ideal and we took a nice stroll to Toji. The 10-minute walk came along with a series of turns into quiet lanes lined with little old houses, and that was precisely the Japan I like - quaint, peaceful, rustic and somewhat mysterious.

Anyway, it was a wonderful morning and I wouldn't mind doing it all over again - even if it was bearing the scorching sun. Good that I chose to wear this summer frock, because it is such a fuss-free piece and it has the sweetest canvas print and color. Cherishing the last of Kyoto's summer, I added a touch of pastels on my belt and my sandals. The florals blended so well with the scenery, I could just imagine coming back in April - oh, what a stunning sight it would be with the pagoda standing tall amongst the lush sakura blooms.

A big thank you to Dressing Salad for sending this piece over so that I could look pretty in Kyoto! For all you ladies who like it as much as I do, you will be glad to know that this dress has been stocked in two different sizes here, and at a length that is more acceptable for work. But if you want something more fun, you can do a little alteration to shorten the dress like I did, and you are good to go for the weekend!
